I’ve had a lot of time to consider my options this year. After an initial sigh of relief followed immediately by blinding panic, I’ve gone through the motions of figuring out how to do what I want to do in EdTech while also following a couple of other passions. The fog is clearing. Time to focus.
I received an email the other day from the Indiana Department of Education’s E-Learning office. It’s that time of year, again, when all thoughts flow naturally to summer professional development. They were checking in to see if I planned on participating in the 19+ event tour this summer and what topic(s) I might be interested in teaching. I happily completed the survey and hit submit.
In the second part of the email, they suggested I consider joining the office’s Speakers’ Bureau. I’d seen this listing before, made a note to join and then promptly farted that thought out of my head. (I do that alot, unfortunately… the farting away of thoughts thing) I read the requirements, suggestions on how to create my intro slide and got to work on introducing myself. Here’s my finished product. Click on the image to view and interact.
I’m an independent contractor now! How else can I brand the vision than to simply put myself out there and see what happens? What else can I do to be seen, heard, acknowledged, accepted into the caudry of EdTech professionals in my region? I mean, I don’t have to become a superstar, but I do want to contribute. This is how its done.
A couple of projects to complete out there, finish studying for the Level 2 exam and more. By June, I’ll be ready to take on the world…. YAY!
