When I started this blog, I promised myself I’d try not to become too embroiled in the politics of education or anything else as I shared my reflections with the world. I’ve had moments of falling off the cart, but I pick myself up, dust myself off and get back on track. Sometimes though, I have to consider the children as I look at the politics of things.
I read something on Facebook today that is forcing me to not fall, but to JUMP off the cart… and ask you to do the same.
The following letter was forwarded to Edutopia by an educator in Baltimore. Consider her request please.
What advice can you give the teachers of Baltimore to help their students to refocus, heal and move forward? What advice can we give each other?
Here is a copy of the “Baltimore Syllabus“. It contains resources to start a conversation with your students about violence in America and what THEY can do to end it. Good stuff.
Have a great weekend.
