Conference Season and the Connected Learner
Time to switch gears.
Being a connected educator is great, but I am also a learner, right? I registered for the ISTE conference in Atlanta in June. I’m excited! I’ve been to business and industry related conferences before; they’re always informative and great networking opportunities.
This one feels different though. Perhaps because I’m focusing my professional energy on being the best possible educator who wants more for my colleagues, I’m really looking forward to the networking more than the learning. Since joining ISTE, I’ve hung out on their LinkedIn page, asking questions, getting answers, providing help for others. Its been fun and informative. I don’t necessarily want to be a EdTech star out there, but I want to contribute. You can only do that if you put yourself out there for the world to see you.
So, I’ve had some cool business cards made up that have a QR Code on them that directs people back to my about.me page. There on my about.me page, anything and everything you’d ever want to know about little ole me is available, including my CV. Let’s see what happens, shall we?
On the left side bar, I’ve listed information for 3 education focused conferences coming up in the next few months. If you have the time and inclination, perhaps you might consider going to one, if only for a day. You might learn something, heck, you might meet someone who can push you forward in your career. I hope I do.
